Mercado Shops shut down: what to do with your Mercado Libre store

Published on

Mercado Shops closed for good on December 31, 2025: Mercado Libre removed the independent stores that were left. Its replacement, "Mi Página," lives inside the marketplace and charges a monthly fee that's added on top of — not instead of — the usual selling commission. If you only wanted your own catalog, there are simpler options.

If you had a Mercado Shops store just to showcase your catalog under your own brand, not to tap into the marketplace's own search traffic, here's what changed and what you can do now.

What happened, in order

The shutdown came in three steps: on January 16, 2025 new stores could no longer be created, on April 30 the inactive ones were closed, and on December 31, 2025 the ones that were left — about 40,000 across the region — were removed entirely.

You can check it in seconds: visiting mercadoshops.com.ar, .mx or .co redirects straight to mercadolibre.com. The domain no longer serves any store.

What "Mi Página," the replacement, actually is

"Mi Página" (Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and Chile) and "Minha Página" in Brazil isn't an independent store: it's a customization layer — logo, cover photo, banners, coupons — over the products you already have listed on the marketplace. It has no cart or checkout of its own.

The buyer always pays through Mercado Libre and Mercado Pago's standard checkout, with no option to pay outside the platform. Unlike Mercado Shops, it isn't a site with its own address that feels separate from the marketplace.

How much it costs, by country

CountryMi Página fee per month
Argentina$15,999 ARS
Mexico$437 MXN
Colombia$44,990 COP
Chile$16,990 CLP
BrazilR$99

The first 3 months are free; after that the fee is charged every month the page stays active, and you can pause it at any time to stop paying.

The fee doesn't replace the commission, it's added to it. In Argentina, the marketplace charges between 11.8% and 17.14% + tax per sale depending on the category and listing type, on top of the Mi Página fee. With Mercado Shops, the commission used to be the only thing you paid.

Your options if you just wanted a catalog

If you need a full e-commerce store — with your own payment gateway, integrated shipping and a connected physical point of sale — there are platforms built for that. In exchange, they usually require setting up the gateway and a shipping method before you can sell, and charge a higher monthly fee than a customization page.

If what you need is to show your catalog under your own brand and keep receiving orders through the channels you already sell on — WhatsApp, Instagram — none of that is necessary: no gateway, no commission, no Mercado Libre account.

When Mi Página is still the right call

If most of your sales come from people finding you by searching inside Mercado Libre — not because they shared your link — losing the brand customization matters less than losing that marketplace traffic itself. A catalog with its own link doesn't bring in new buyers: it organizes the ones who already reach out to you.
